Tigh-na-Mara

Tigh-na-Mara means view of the sea in the Cornish language. True to its name, this superb south facing cottage is just yards from an amazing beach in the pretty Cornish Harbour of Porthleven. The cottage sleeps four and has been recently decorated in a simple and elegant style.

Clean and bright, the 20ft sitting and dining room is where you can relax in this welcoming room in one of the comfortable sofas in front of the original fireplaces, one of which has pretty wood burning stove. Photo: right (George Greene)

The generous sized kitchen (below right) is well equipped with everything you should need including lovely touches such as white porcelain plates. There is the added unusual bonus of an original ornamental Cornish Range in a fireplace with exposed granite that gives you a taste of something of the history of this cottage.


Out the back there is a pretty white washed patio area (left) with pots and plants. Parking is just beyond the cottage over the back wall.

You can enter through a door along the back of the row of cottages, or come around the front and up the short flight of granite steps.

The hall way has the original floor tiles, and upstairs is a large, warm bathroom, which has a separate electric shower cubical and a bath, wash hand basin, toilet and cupboards.

The first bedroom (right) is the master double bedroom, with new double bed and matress and wooden floor. This restful room has double glazed sash windows with sea views. Beautifully decorated - like the rest of the house - there is the original period fireplace with furniture to match.

The second bedroom is the twin bedded room (left), with new beds and mattresses and double glazed sash window overlooking the patio area.
